Coheed and Cambria are back, and they’re heavy as ever.
The New York progressive rock outfit returns with “Shoulders,” a flat-out rock number that marks their first studio release proper in almost three years.
More bodyparts will be on the way. Frontman Claudio Sanchez has hinted at a 10th studio release later this year or next, the followup to 2018’s Vaxis – Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures.
“After making music for so long and entering a pandemic, we didn’t want limitations to the creative process,” Sanchez told Heavy Consequence. The next LP “is going to be what I hope people perceive this band to be in 2021/2022.”
Coheed and Cambria look an unusual detour last year by way of a collaboration with Rick Springfield for a sequel to the Australian singer’s Grammy winning 1981 hit “Jessie’s Girl.”
Next month, the band sets off on a co-headline tour with The Used, starting Aug. 27 at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
