Lady Gaga Seems to Have a Doppelgänger Competing in the Tokyo Olympics

Lady Gaga is a supremely athletic entertainer, known for rehearsing and honing her performances like a world-class athlete. So you might be forgiven if you did a double take when photos of Jordanian taekwondo fighter Julyana Al-Sadeq flooded Twitter after fans noticed that she bears a striking resemblance to Mother Monster.

“Why is Lady Gaga at the Olympics,” Gaga Daily tweeted on Monday (July 26) alongside a pic of Al-Sadeq mid-fight in her white dobok, chest pad and helmet. Though Al-Sadeq was knocked out in the round of 16 by Brazilian fighter Milean Titoneli on Sunday, that didn’t stop Little Monsters from weighing in on the women’s eerily similar look.

“There can be a hundred people at the olympics and one of them is Lady Gaga competing for a taekwondo medal,” wrote one. At press time, neither woman appeared to have responded to the meme-ifying of their similarities.

While Gaga hasn’t made an official appearance at the Olympic games, the singer is gearing up for a gold medal-worthy event: an upcoming reunion with icon Tony Bennett for a pair of shows celebrating their long friendship. Gaga and Bennett are slated to perform together at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Aug. 3 and 5 in “One Last Time: An Evening With Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.”

Check out some pics of Al-Sadeq looking fashionable and fierce — just like Lady Gaga — below.
