Korea’s SM Entertainment — the label behind SuperM, NCT, Super Junior, Exo and more global superstars — is on the hunt for English-speaking aspiring K-pop stars, with online auditions for 2021 SM Talent Show Vol.2 opening this week, Billboard can announce.
Online auditions will start Thursday (July 29) at 11 a.m. ET for male English speakers anywhere in the world born between 1997 and 2009, so ages 11 to 24. Applications — which should include an introduction video and prove the candidate’s singing, dancing, acting and/or speech skills — will be accepted for just over two weeks, until Aug. 15, followed by one-on-one video auditions for those who move forward to the next round. Applicants will have a chance to sign a contract with SM Entertainment, and winners from each country will get AirPods Pros as a prize.
Head to Audition.SMtown.com and SM Entertainment’s social accounts to find all the details for SM Talent Show Vol.2 online auditions. Winners will be selected through September.
SM Entertainment was established back in 1995 and has produced dozens of groups and solo artists, including many that are still active today and part of a current global surge in K-pop. The company’s roster includes SuperM, which is a K-pop supergroup that features seven members all from SM acts, including SHINee, Exo, NCT 127 and WayV.
